PEELING THE PLASTIC OFF A NEW PHONE.

TO: All Department Heads FROM: Karen, Accounting DATE: June 14, 2026 RE: Official Observation of a Minor Yet Deeply Satisfying Consumer Experience

This morning, I observed a colleague unboxing a new smartphone in the breakroom. The ritual of removing the thin, adhesive protective film from the screen—gently peeling from one corner in a single, unbroken motion—produced an audible sigh of collective contentment among those present. It is a small, quiet triumph that signals the beginning of something pristine and full of potential.

This act, while fleeting, represents a moment of order and newness in a world often filled with clutter and uncertainty. The smooth release of the film, the faint static sound it makes, and the flawless, fingerprint-free surface that emerges are a sensory reminder that some pleasures are simple, universal, and entirely uncompromised.

I encourage each of you to take a moment to appreciate the small joys of new beginnings—whether it's a new device, a fresh notebook, or the first page of a good book. These moments, though trivial in the grand scheme, add texture to our days. Let us not overlook them.
