THE SMELL OF FRESHLY CUT GRASS ON A SUMMER EVENING.

MEMORANDUM FOR ALL STAFF: It is with great warmth that I file this official record of a sensory experience that has once again graced our lives. The smell of freshly cut grass on a summer evening has been detected across the region, and it is hereby acknowledged as a deeply grounding and restorative phenomenon.

Please be advised that this aroma, often accompanied by the soft hum of a distant lawnmower and the golden light of a setting sun, has been scientifically linked to feelings of calm, nostalgia, and belonging. It signals the arrival of long, lazy evenings—the kind that invite bare feet, cold drinks, and the simple pleasure of watching the world slow down.

We encourage all personnel to pause this week and intentionally experience this moment. Whether you are the one pushing the mower or simply walking through the neighborhood, allow yourself a deep breath. Let the green, sweet scent remind you of childhood summers and the quiet beauty of the ordinary.

In recognition of this seasonal treasure, we are delighted to announce the procurement of several items designed to enhance your appreciation of this experience. Please see the attached list for official recommendations.

THE SOUND OF RAIN ON THE ROOF AT NIGHT.

To All Staff: It is my official duty to document a small, beautiful moment that occurred last evening. At approximately 11:47 PM, while completing my bedtime routine, I was met with the gentle, rhythmic patter of rain against the roof shingles. There was no storm, no thunder—only a steady, soothing percussion that seemed to blanket the house in quiet.

The sound carried a distinct quality of safety and permission. It signaled that the world outside was momentarily hushed, that all obligations could be set aside. I found myself lying still, listening to the soft drumming, feeling the cool air seep through the window crack. In that moment, nothing else required my attention—only the rain and the roof.

I encourage you all to seek out this experience. It costs nothing, requires no equipment, and yet provides an unmatched sense of peace. Let us formally appreciate the gift of a rainy night, when the roof becomes a shield and the rain becomes a lullaby.

Please file this memo under 'Unpaid, Underappreciated Joys of Everyday Life.' Karen from Accounting.

HUGS AT THE AIRPORT.

I was at O'Hare on Thursday and a little girl — maybe four years old — came SPRINTING past baggage claim and launched herself at her grandfather and he caught her and just held on. (I was eating a pretzel. I had to put the pretzel down.)

That has been happening since there were airports. It will keep happening. No one can take that away. * * *

This is why TODAY WILL BE A GOOD DAY!! :)

GO TEAM!! We are ALL FAMILY. <3
