AIRPORT ARRIVALS GATE HUGS.

To All Staff: It has come to my attention that one of the most efficient and emotionally rewarding operations in human experience occurs daily at airport arrivals gates. I refer, of course, to the act of embracing a returning traveler after a period of separation. This moment, though brief, represents a perfect convergence of anticipation, relief, and affection that merits formal recognition.

The process is deceptively simple: a waiting individual spots their approaching loved one, a smile breaks through any fatigue, and in the next instant, two people meet in a tight, often wordless embrace. There is no paperwork, no approval chain—just pure, unscripted joy. The airport arrivals gate serves as a neutral zone where all the waiting, the flight delays, and the miles dissolve into a single, beautiful moment.

I encourage each of you to take a mindful moment the next time you find yourself at an arrivals gate—whether as the greeter or the greeted. Notice the way the fluorescent lights seem to soften, the background noise fades, and the world briefly shrinks to just two people holding on. It is a small reminder that the best moments in life are often the ones that require no planning, only presence.

Let us continue to value these connections. And should the need arise, please know that the Accounting department stands ready to procure any necessary supplies to facilitate these reunions. After all, love is the most important asset we carry.
